Pre School Education for 3 - 5 year olds

Chuckles Nurseries strive to offer a balanced approach to early year’s education combining a stimulating and fun environment in a safe and secure setting. When children are happy they are more likely to benefit from the experiences being offered.

All 3 and 4 year old children (commencing the term after their 3rd birthday) are eligible for 15 hours of free early years education per week, during term time. Our nurseries are both registered with Ofsted to provide this education for your child. We have regular visits from early years teachers, based with the Children, Schools and Families Service, to assist/monitor the service that we deliver.

Activities are planned around the seven educational learning outcomes described in the revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EFYS) 2012 which are:-

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication, Language and Literacy
Understanding of The World
Physical Development
Expressive Arts and Design

Your child will be continually observed and assessed using Learning Journals..

We actively encourage parents to become involved in this stage of your child’s development. We will arrange for you to come into nursery so that we may complete your child’s ‘Chat Wheel’ or ‘Sharing Sheet’. We will send an ‘Activities at Home’ sheet home with your child detailing the forth-coming topic and suggesting ideas for the things you can do at home with your child.

You are welcome to arrange a meeting with your child’s key worker, at any time to discuss your child’s progress, or you may decide to wait for one of our parent’s evenings.

We actively liaise with our feeder schools as your child progresses towards ‘Big School’. We encourage reception class teachers to visit us and meet your child here at nursery. This helps to ensure a smooth transition between nursery and primary school.

Things to bring to nursery:

Drinks bottle (named)
Coat and hat
Sun cream/hat
Wellie boots/Slippers
Change of clothes
If you would like more information about our early year’s education, or to arrange a visit, please contact the nursery.
